The olympic torch relay will start its journey in Paris around the Grand Palais and Petit Palais. These 2 iconic monuments were built for the 1900 Paris World's Fair with the era's cutting-edge building techniques.

The Grand Palais is famous for its Art Nouveau architecture, with an impressive central glass and steel nave. It was designed to host major art exhibitions and cultural events. After the World’s fair, the Grand Palais became the center of the city’s cultural and economic life, hosting the Paris Motor Show as well as many horse-racing competitions.

The Petit Palais houses the Paris Museum of Fine Arts, with collections ranging from Antiquity to Modern Art. Its facade adorned with sculptures and its interior garden make it a must-see.

In the 2024 olympics, the Grand Palais will host fencing and taekwondo competitions.
